Sweden's first large-scale hydrogen-powered ship
2021 saw the launch of our first hydrogen-powered concept ship within the Horizon series: Gotland Horizon. This is Sweden’s first large-scale hydrogen-powered transport of passengers and with it we’re aiming higher than ever.
The project is a milestone for the shipping industry in general, and for the Gotland service in particular. Using the latest technology that combines gas turbines and steam turbines, future traffic can maintain the same speed as today, but with steam as the primary emission – because hydrogen combustion generates water.
